Our Story

A world where curiosity leads the way.

We're building a bright little island where kids 6–12 can wander, wonder, and grow — a place that feels like the best summer camp you never had to leave.

Why we built Otter Island

Learning should feel like an adventure.

We kept seeing the same thing: kids light up when they're exploring, but so much of the internet wasn't built with them in mind. So we set out to make a different kind of place — one where discovery is the whole point, and where every path leads somewhere worth going.

Otter Island is safe, ad-free, and genuinely joyful. No pressure, no nonsense — just an open world full of quests, mini-games, and friendly faces waiting to be met.

  • Ad-free from the first day, on purpose
  • Designed with kids, parents, and teachers in mind
  • Play that quietly builds real skills

What we stand for

The values that guide every otter

Four simple promises shape every quest, every game, and every corner of the island.

Play with Purpose

Every adventure has a spark of learning tucked inside — math, reading, science, and creativity, woven into the fun.

Kindness First

We celebrate helping, sharing, and cheering each other on. Encouragement is the island's favorite language.

Everyone Belongs

An inclusive, welcoming world built for every kind of camper — accessible, friendly, and made to feel like home.

Safe by Design

Safety isn't a setting we added later — it's the foundation everything else is built on, from moderation to privacy.

How the island grew

From a small idea to a whole island

Otter Island didn't appear overnight. It grew the way the best camps do — one good idea, one friendly face, and one new adventure at a time.

1

We started with a question

What if the time kids spent online could feel less like a feed to scroll and more like a place to grow? That question became the whole island.

2

We built it with families

Kids told us what felt fun. Parents and teachers told us what felt safe. We listened to both, and the island took shape around their answers.

3

We keep it growing

New quests, new games, and new friends arrive all the time — while safety, kindness, and curiosity stay exactly where they started: at the center of everything.

A promise you can count on

No fine print, no surprises — just the things we'll always stand behind.

What makes us different

Not just screen time — camp time.

Plenty of apps are built to keep kids glued to a screen. We'd rather they leave the island a little more curious, a little more confident, and a lot more ready to make their next thing.

  • A whole island to explore, not an endless feed to scroll
  • Mini-games that reward curiosity over clicks
  • Friendships built on teamwork and kindness
  • Parents and teachers welcome — and in the loop

Good to know

A few questions, answered

The things grown-ups ask us most before their camper paddles in.

Who is Otter Island for?

Otter Island is built for kids ages 6–12. Every quest, game, and corner of the world is designed to fit how kids that age explore, learn, and play.

Can anyone sign up right now?

Not yet — Otter Island is in a private beta with Alpha School, so access is by invitation while we test and improve. Request access and we'll be in touch as we open up to more families and schools.

How do you keep kids safe?

Safety is the foundation, not an afterthought. The whole world is moderated, privacy comes first, and parents have tools to stay in the loop.

You can dig into all the details on our Safety page.

Do kids actually learn while they play?

That's the whole idea. Math, reading, science, and creativity are woven quietly into the adventures, so the learning feels like part of the fun rather than a lesson.

Come say hello to the island
