Safety First
Safety isn't a feature we added later — it's the ground every part of Otter Island is built on. Here's how we protect curious campers, and how you stay in control.
Our safety promise
Every adventure is wrapped in layers of protection — people, technology, and tools you control — working together so kids can just have fun.
Trained moderators watch over the island, ready to step in so play stays kind and safe.
Messages pass through a kid-safe filter built to block bullying, swearing, and unsafe sharing.
We collect as little as possible and never sell kids' data. Real names and contact info stay private.
Grown-ups set the boundaries: screen-time limits, friend approvals, and activity visibility.
No advertising, no pop-ups, no tracking pixels. Kids explore without anyone trying to sell to them.
One tap to report or block. Every report reaches our safety team and is reviewed with care.
A walled garden
Otter Island is a closed, kid-only world — not a doorway to the wider internet. There are no open links to follow, no strangers from off-platform, and no surprises. What happens on the island stays gentle, guided, and age-appropriate.

Chat, the safe way
Talking with friends is part of the fun — so we layered three kinds of protection around every message.
Before a message is ever sent, it passes through a kid-safe filter that blocks profanity, bullying, and attempts to share personal details like phone numbers or addresses.
Trained moderators keep watch across the island, and our systems flag patterns that filters alone might miss — so help can arrive quickly when it's needed.
If something feels off, kids can report or block another player in a single tap. Every report reaches our safety team and is reviewed with care.
You're in control
You decide how your child experiences the island. From your parent dashboard you can shape the boundaries, approve who they connect with, and stay close to how their time is spent — all designed to be simple, not overwhelming.

Good questions
The things parents ask us most — answered plainly.
Otter Island is a closed, kid-only world with no connection to the open internet. Chat runs through a kid-safe filter, and as a parent you can require approval before your child connects with anyone. There's no way for outsiders to reach in.
Otter Island is currently in a private beta with Alpha School, so access is by invitation. There are no ads and nothing trying to upsell your child, and we'll share availability details as we open up to more families and schools.
We follow a privacy-by-design approach: we collect as little as possible to run the world safely, we never sell kids' data, and real names and contact details are kept private. You can review and manage your family's information from your parent account.
Anyone can report or block another player in a single tap, and every report reaches our safety team. If you need help as a parent, head to your parent tools or reach our support team and we'll look into it right away.
